1 – Spin the Bottle by Essie ($8.50)
I absolutely love this semi-sheer nude shade from Essie’s Spring 2014 Collection!

2 – Skintimate Signature Scents Moisturizing Shave Gel in Raspberry Rain (7oz – $3.99)
As the weather gets warmer, women find themselves shaving more often as skirts, dresses, and shorts become wardrobe staples. This shave gel is one of my favs because it is moisturizing and has a delicious scent!

3 – Miss Jessie’s Super Slip Sudsy Shampoo (8oz – $11)
I love this shampoo as it works to cleanse, moisturize, and detangle my kinky curly baby afro. I also enjoy the sweet smell and slippery lather it creates.

4 – Sweet Revenge Lip Gloss by Nars ($26)
This sheer pink grapefruit color is the perfect nude shade for day or night.

5 – Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser ($28)
This gentle soap-free liquid cleanser is ideal for my combination and sensitive skin. It contains grape extracts, sage, and chamomile which allows this airy foam to soothe the skin and remove make-up and impurities.

Snack Bars: The 411

20140522-100642.jpg

Snack bars can be life savers between meals especially if you have a busy schedule like mine. However, with so many bars available it can be difficult to figure out which bars are nutritious and which ones are just sugary snacks.

Abbey Matson, Holistic Health Counselor and founder of Mind to Body Health, gives us key factors to look at before purchasing a snack bar.

1 – Sugar: Many bars are disguised as healthy snacks but in reality are jam packed with sugar. Be sure to look for bars that have less than 15 grams of sugar.

2 – Fiber: Fiber makes you feel full by slowing down the food traveling to your stomach. A nutritious snack bar should have at least 3 grams of fiber.

3 – Protein: Protein has many benefits including providing energy for our bodies and to help us fight fatigue. Try to get at least 4 grams of protein per snack bar.

4 – Ingredients: A snack bar should have no more than 12 simple ingredients. If you are unable to pronounce any ingredient or are not sure what something is, avoid it.

Here are some of the best, healthy snack bars on the market:

Go Macro: These wholesome bars are made with grains, nuts, seeds, and natural sweeteners. They are organic, kosher, vegan, gluten free, and are the Official Nutrition Bar of the American Diabetes Association.

Larabar: Larabars are made with pure, simple ingredients including unsweetened fruits, nuts, and spices. There are a variety of delicious flavors and each bar has no more than 9 ingredients.

Zing: Zing bars are high in protein, fiber, and are organic. I especially enjoy the almond blueberry flavor!

Pure Organic: Pure bars are made with simple, whole ingredients, organic, vegan, gluten free, and kosher, and are yummy!
